- Tally is helped to safety by rangers.
- The rangers tell Tally they are burning everything to destroy white tiger orchids, which crowds out all other species of plants.
- Tally is taken to Smoke.
- Tally waits on the "bald head", which was her next clue.
Respond to the quote:
"...Tally was stuck out here in the wild forever. Ugly for life. Her only way home was to betray her friend."
In my opinion, this quote illustrates Tally almost giving up. Basically, she is telling herself that the only way out is to do what she has been ordered to do. :(
